Well, I'm a little late with this update, but here goes...
On Monday I was at the dealership for some front differential service. The right side seal was leaking, so I had that replaced. Also, 2 out of 3 bushings for the diff needed to be replaced as well. While all this was being done, I talked to the tech about the "Service 4WD" EVIC message that I get on occasion (for years now). Well, I had him replace the solenoid AND wiring harness. He said the wiring harness looked a bit worn. Anyway, no more leak, no more knocking from the diff, and no more warning messages!!!! I had the C1417 DTC in the past, but no more!
I also had the serpentine belt replaced, coolant drained and filled, and PCV valve replaced while I was there. Too lazy to do it myself, and those 3 items were still original in the Jeep with 113,000 miles on the ticker.
