A little post-Ultimate Jeep Summit carnage:
I don't believe that anyone did any damage during the actual UJS but we did this on Thursday afternoon on our way out of our Elephant Hill run. I'm not sure what caused the tie rod to snap as we weren't doing anything out of the ordinary. This happened about 1/4 mile from the trailhead.

Not having the right parts for a trail fix, we left Sherman overnight and returned to Moab for parts. Here is the 'splint' we did on Friday that got us out (and home!).

Don't ask me why I didn't just pull the tie rod and have it welded in Moab. I just wasn't thinking, but at least the 'splint' didn't require putting the boot clamp back on which took me over an hour the last time I had to do it.

I hope to post some more pics soon and maybe a YouTube video of Wipe-Out Hill!

The family and I had another great WCCC/WCUJS. The weather & wheeling was just fantastic and I'm looking forward to Silverton next year.

Got home late Saturday. We went around Bonneville Salt flats, then up 93 from Wells Nevada. 1,886 miles total in the motorcoach. Didn't keep track in the Jeep, but I'd guess 300 or so miles, mostly off road.

The horrendous tire "ripping" noise was torn plastic fender liners which were getting raked by the tire tread just like playing cards stuck in a kid's bike spokes. Totally harmless, yet sounded really BAD!

I'm gonna try a link here to Flickr. It SHOULD open an album page with 101 photos. If it works, you should be able to click the slideshow button, and sit back and enjoy.

FYI, the JKU was rented from Cliffhanger Jeep Rentals for my daughter and her two friends from college. I do recommend Cliffhanger. They were $195/day for a modified JK and gave us a 10% discount for renting for 2 days. They were also the only rental company in town that didn't prohibit running a lot of the fun trails like Hell's Revenge and Poison Spider Mesa.

Here are a few of my photos. They're not up to 'Adondo par' but there are still some good ones.
Sure, put me on a pedestal. Those are GREAT photos! I checked out the album too.

That one of me under the arch... I look like I need to be colored green, live there permanently, and charge toll for anyone visiting there. Good bridges to live under and charge toll for are getting hard to find ever since all the dragons and gargoyles have gone extinct.

I also saw I almost had a "sal" going there, I just need to put my arm farther out and down lower next time.
