    Heat shield

When I was underneath my Jeep the other day I noticed a bolt on my heat shield had rusted through and broken through.

I zip tied it back on but was wondering would it be safe to take off or is it ok to leave zip tied? Has anyone else had theirs break? Thanks.

Zip tie is fine till that breaks. You could just drill a new hole and put a new bolt in to hold it. I don't like removing heat shields or sound material either it all adds to a comfortable ride.

Zip tie wont last long there. I'd drill a new hole and use a screw

Do you have a spare tire underneith the rear? If not you can just take that heat shield off.

I had to remove the heat shield in order to get my oversize spare to fit. Have not had any issues so far.
