    Hello from northern ohio

i just bought a 2006 XK limited 4.7 with a QD1. from what i have read it seems its not the optimum chosie of t-cases but it was priced right. im still getting used to the ride after selling my 01 xj wow what a differance. this is going to be my DD for now, my fun truck is a 87 MJ. i will most likely be putting a lift on the XK come spring or early summer. not sure what direction ill take it but i want to be able to wheel it lightly anyhow. there is lots to read here and am looking forward to getting some good advice.

    Welcome to the forum!

You'll be amazed at what these vehicles can handle with just a 2" lift and some skid plates. I also had a 2001 XJ at one time.

...but, QD1 didn't come on an XK. It's either QuadraTrac-1, QuadraTrac-2 or QuadraDrive-2. Since you have a 4.7L Limited, you probably have QT2. It has the t-handle to shift into 4-low correct?

Not a problem. That QT2 system will take your XK places that you probably couldn't bring the XJ.... it's definitely not going to be your limiting factor

thats cool, i was thinking i may have got something that was not suited for off road travel. i defenatley did not want to endup with a mall crawler.

lol it's definitely not a mall crawler.

here's one of our resident QT2 members at a recent wheeling trip

The key with wheeling QT2 is getting used to how the system works.... keeping just enough throttle to let the brake system transfer power.

Welcome to the forum! QT2 is still a great system and I think Matt pretty much said it all. I have gotten much better at handling how the system works and it really preforms well. If you look in the Rausch Creek threads you will see me and adams QT2 on the trails.
