So yes, my XK needs a new spare tire winch, WINCH - 2010 JEEP COMMANDER (55396941AF) This was the cheapest I found compared to the dealership price of $189
I am also thinking of just throwing it up on my roof basket (same one Matt has) but how much would this cost? I am looking at the cheapest way to put it on the roof and I am not conerned about locking it as it is not a fresh tire nor was it expensive.
Any suggestions would be great
Cheapest would be some ratchet straps.
But hell man... ~$30 at home depot and im sure we can make you a pretty good mount for the roof. The alternate is $80 for the yakima mount I had.
Yeah I am going to weigh my options. Guy at the dealership says he gets a lot of WKs/XKs in to replace this winch. Apparently it breaks or rusts very easily. I don't want to fork out $150-189 for it to break again especailly since an over-sized spare will be under there.Originally Posted by Matt

Ratchet strap and a bike lock secure and cheap.
I replaced my winch, I found the part online somewhere and it was "only" $80ish but I don't remember where I bought it from.
I have one that I took out when I installed the rear cargo box. I kept in in case I need it for measurements but I would let it go for $75 if you really want one.

Damn i feel like an idiot that I didn't think of that.... I'm not using mine either (someday that SA bumper will be on there, and my spare's too big) so you could have mine man.
