Service 4wheel drive with no code?

The Xk didn't start this morning. Alll the lights worked and everything, only got the clicking sounds. It started with a jump. My ESP/BAS light has been on for a week or so and now after this morning the "service 4wheel drive system" appears. There are no codes. I know that this is a horrible question to ask but was hoping someone could give some input. I've been in clinicals for awhile and will continue to be till next year, so I'm hemorrhaging cash and not taking any in. Taking it some where for them to diagnose isn't an option now. Any advice would be appreciated

Find someone with a flashpaq to check for codes. Autozone scanners can't read 4wd codes and i dont believe the key dance brings them up either; but I know my flashpaq reads them.

And thanks! Yeah everyones good! A bit hectic lately with all 3 of them... and daycare starts in a week so my mornings will be crazy

usually its a diff solenoid issue. But a deeper scanner should tell you exactly what it is

Mine has gone off and on ever since I bought it.

I believe that misalignment and uneven tire wear can also trigger it. I also get the ESP/BAS light after several hours on the trail in 4-LO then driving back to town (15 miles) w/o airing back up. It usually goes away after cooling(?) overnight.
