I had an XK and have a yakima skybox 16 which is 81" long, the attachment points of the box had enough adjustablitiy that the rear hatch wasn't an issue, I pushed it as far back as I could and still open the hatch. I could have moved it forward I'd guess 6+ inches from where I had it set to clear the hatch.
I still have a box in my yard for local pickup.
