Does anyone know the thickness of the mopar skids. I talked to the dealer today 56.90 for each of the front skid and the xcase skid. I don't ever plan on really needing them so I think the thickness should be plenty but I'm just looking for any idea of thickness. Thanks
There thin real thin IMO for a skid on a 5,000LBS vehicle. I think its only 1/8 of an inch thick.
I may just go ahead and get the 4xguard front skid. It will prolly be used more than any other. Don't plan on doing anything more than sand and snow.
The tank itself is not metal, but we do have a stock metal skid plate for the fuel tank.
The center skid plate requires the upgraded fuel tank skid plate prior to mounting.
P@55word and I were discussing the option of adding a heavier plate to the fuel tank, another layer, by welding or bolting another plate. That said, you
could fab a piece to connect the center skid to the stock skid.
Less money and possibly more strength.
I also have the belly guard and it has saved my assets a time or 2. And the
the powder coating has not come off yet!
And another thing...the front skid plate is easy enough to remove and
reinstall for oil changes.

As a matter of fact after our discussion the other day Cico I decided to keep the extra OEM skid I have. I plan on getting a welder later this year for projects on my SJ (Wagoneer). I think I am gong to fab up one with some 5/16 steel plate and weld in some nuts for connection to my transfer case skid. Should be stronger then the "upgraded" Mopar skid.
just got done installing my fuel tank skid PITA by your self. I took some pics and I'll do a wright up on it. But I'm officially running all the Mopar skids plus the front skid and belly guard by 4xguard. The wife crawled under and pointed at my axle and says whats that so I told her. She said you hit that two you need armor for that do they make that
