    Question Wheel Guru....Where are you?

I pm'd the forum wheel guru but, I'll ask here as well...

I'm in the market for some wheels and tires so I can wheel at Camp Commander this year. I've got a few wheels I'm eye-balling, but just need info on the best fit.

    So,.............17x8 ET-(0) BS-(4.5)
    17x9 ET-(-12) BS-(4.5)
    Duratrac's 265/70/17

Will these work with the pinch weld mod and liner re-forming? Or is the 4.5" BS to agressive?

    EDIT: 17x8 +0et, 4.5" bs

    17x9 -12et, 4.5" bs

    17x9 +18et, 5.7"bs

Which one will work best with either Duratracs or Nitto Trail Graplers (265/70/17)?

Out of the options listed, the 17x9 +18 will be the best for the 265/70R17 size. A 17x8.5 with a +25mm offset would be even better. 265/70R17's are really only approved for wheels that are up to 8.5" wide. a 265/70R17 on a 9" wide wheel will be a little stretched.

O.K. thanks. As far as backspace, I should stick to the 18-25 range on a wheel width between 8-9"?

If you want to put the tallest tire under your commander with the stock suspension or a leveling kit, Here's what we recommend:

    WIDTH __ OFFSETS
    7 ______ + 3/+65
    7.5 _____ + 9/+59
    8.0 _____ +15/+53
    8.5 _____ +22/+46
    9.0 _____ +28/+40
    9.5 ______ +35

Offsets higher than these can cause rubbing issues with your frame or suspension, offsets lower than these can cause rubbing issues with your fenders. If you are pushing these limits at either end you'll want to be more specific with your tire size.

I'm running the RR 2.25" spacer lift with stock wheels/tires now. I'm looking at a wheel now that specs out at 17x8 +18ET, which puts it at 5.7BS. 265/70/17 AT tires.

Also looking at a 17x8 +6ET 4.7BS which is a little more aggressive. Just not sure if I will be rubbing at full lock with this set up..?..

Thanks for the info above, but correct me if I'm wrong......that's reffering to stock higth or just a leveling spacer. Right?

The offsets listed above are applicable to your lift as well.

The 17x8 +6 is agressive like you noted and will most likely rub at full lock with the 265's mounted.

O.K., I went with a 17x8.5 ET+14 BS+5.25 and 265/70/17 Nittos. This set-up is a little aggressive but not quite as much as a 4.5" BS on a 9" wheel. So, I'm hoping that I will have minimal rub at full lock with no well mods. If anything, I will have to bend back the pinch weld and heat gun the plastic gaurd a bit. We will see sometime next week.

P.S. I tried to purchase from you guys but, i really didn't care too much for the wheels you carried (for my Jeep), plus my nephew hooked me up as well.

Thank you for all your assistance and hope to do business with you soon in the future.
