Not a good idea. You need the stud to be more rigid. Just using a pin like that will allow movement, and with the preload on our torsion bars you'll either elongate the hole or bend the pin.

What WOULD work better is if the stud was threaded on one side and bolted in place, thereby being a more rigid member that the sway bar link would then slide on to.

lol i didn't even read the whole page before i made that post and then realized they already posted damage info.

Notice how bad the pin looks after just one year of use:

    TO

What he's not showing you is damage to the bracket that holds that pin. Also, any noises associated with that loose joint.

Save up and do it right IMO

The more I read on that page the more I can't believe you even posted this SAL!!!

After using this setup for over a year, one of my homemade discos failed while driving on the highway. Although this did not cause me to loose control or significantly change the driving behavior of my Jeep, it is never a good idea to drive at highway speeds with your swaybars disconnected. If you still plan to do this mod, I would strongly advise you to to check the hardware component on a regular basis for wear and replace them as needed.

Umm, what were we talking about again? The negative impact of the Disco era on Dewalt battery life is a growing issue these days. Definitely.....
