my CBR 1000RR
I finally did it I put my lights on the back of basket. This is were I planned on putting them after I purchased some good ones for the front. But after hitting them hard enough on the trails to bend the mounts and the several times I was fishing and wished I had them back there because I couldn't see crap I finally ripped all the wires out and put them on the back. The good news is I can now fit in my GARAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never tried because I knew the lights wouldn't clear. I do rub the top of the basket ever so slightly on the door but not hard enough to even leave a mark. I looked for the insulated clamps but couldn't find any that would work. Thats ok for the back because the mounts as is are kinda like a shelf now.
Very cool, I have never hooked up my lights on the front of my basket and after a late night search at Camp Commander I am sure I will hook them up before the next event.
I have lights on the back also. They come in handy sometimes, especially when backing into the driveway with 2 feet of snow on everything. Speaking of getting in garage, I forgot my rack had lights and went to a carwash ( had been in there with just the rack ). I heard this loud clunk and couldnt figure what it was until my light covers went flying across the freakin hood. LOL !! I drove out real quick so not to damage anything else and had to go down the street to another carwash where I could rinse the soap off. What a dumb@ss !!

Dude thats funny stuff. The only thing I hit with the lights besides on trails were my kids basketball hoop.
Interesting though since I moved the lights to the back and down plus I removed the ax and flag was in real bad shape I have gained .5 MPG extra. I was surprised when i saw my average climbing I did not change driving habits or routes either. I also turned my fishing pole mounts parallel with the ground while not in use. I have also noticed a lot less wind noise form inside the cab and the biggest benifet is I CAN NOW FIT IN MY GARAGE So all in all I'm glad I moved them back.
Very nice, I like your style. Keep it up.

Well I started out by changing the front diff rear diff and transfer case fluid and got that all done. Then I decided to try and add the lights Don sent me. So I pulled my CB and the switch for the rear lights and started over. I reinstalled the CB correctly and put two new switches in. I tired to put them in the spot where I had blanks in but there was a circut board back there so oh well. Anyway here are the pics.
My hooks are turned down and I havent had any trouble with them.
Careful when you pull on those hooks. When I was offroad the other day and had the transmission problem i had to have a little pull. You have to pull straight forward on the hooks or they will twist some. I tried to tie one rope around both and that was a bad idea. It pulled them both towards the center in a sideways fashion. I switched the rope up and pulled with one only and that one straightened back out and was able to hold the weight of the entire vehicle going uphill.
