Mityvac (http://www.mityvac.com/pages/products_fee.asp)... I have the 7201. Got it for under $90 from Amazon.
I've seen two of those things explode..wasn't fun.
Sounds like two people didn't know what they were doing lol. They were used consistently in the shop i worked at, and I never had an issue with mine. Key is not over-pumping it; let it do its job.
