    Hardcore 3wheeling trip..

(Copied/Pasted from JeepForum since thats where the 2 other guys in WK's are members)
Omelet, ExtremeCreature, and myself all met up at Hungry Valley SRA in Gorman, CA yesterday.

They have a man made little 4x4 obstacle area where we played for a little bit and tried to prepare ExtremeCreature for what was about to come.

We also found out he was going to have some major tire damage if he didn't mod his rear pinch weld. So we of course had to take care of that before heading off to a real trail.

Omelet and I had talked about doing Miller Jeep Trail, which we'd both seen videos of, but didn't bother to research where it actually was.. I thought it was in Hungry Valley which we later found out was't the case. It was in the National Forest that surrounded HV. So we headed out to find it. We talked to a few people on the way hoping someone could give us some directions.. we were told it was at the top of the mountain road but that it was tight and so they gave me a funny look when I told them my Jeep already had scratches..

We made it to the top of the mountain and there was a group of JK's at the top. Turns out most people run it the other direction, but it is a two way trail. We waited around for a little bit (let my kids play for awhile..) and discuss what we want to do. We don't have enough time to drive all the way around to the "beginning" and do it the normal way since the trail itself takes about 4-5 hours.

We decide top down it is.. I'll lead, we put ExtremeCreature in the middle and Omelet and his sexy winch setup bring up the rear.

The start (in our case.. the end in the normal direction) is the hardest part, so maybe 100 yard down the trail we get to some nasty stuff. Not really a huge deal, just with these big rigs it took some multipoint positioning to be able to get the line I wanted. As soon as ExtemeCreature got through the first obstacle we came upon another group coming up. Luckily there was a pull out that they could fit their whole group (11ish) and let us by. We got some funny looks...

We continued on through and had a couple other challenging obstacles but for the most part I'd say nothing too crazy, but for sure fun. All we had to was pick the right line and stick to it and none of us had any issues, we had plenty of traction, and the only parts dragging was pretty minor.

Some of the downhill stuff was pretty intense though, which is part of the reason for the title.. between the man made obstacles, and some of these hairy downhill sections we all had tires in the air all day long it seemed.

When we got to the end of the trail there was a camping area where some side by side atv families were camped. I pulled over and starting talking with them.. They were pretty impressed that we came down the trail. They proceeded to call us 1%ers since you don't normally see WK/XKs on the trail. We explained they were Jeeps and plenty capable since they all had "lockers" essentially. After leaving there we stopped for a bite to eat and went our separate ways back home.

Great time, great wheeling, great meeting some more cool people. :cheers2:

    Couple other random pics..

We started off at the top of those mountains went down in the valley and came back out.

I have friends that moved to AZ last year. My wife and I would be in CO now if we weren't fortunate enough to have kids..... too much family here.

psh.. tell your family to travel, thats what we do. Both my wife and I are from MI, all our family is there, and we won't be living there ever again. Hell I don't plan to live outside of CA, CO, UT, AZ if I can help it, but its a little out of my control.

I can't complain I got the wife from Chicago all the way to NC so that's pretty good. I just need to get her out there to see it and I think she would be hooked on it.

I don't love the politics or the traffic.. but some of the most amazing places I've been are in CA. And you can't beat the weather
