is this a rear diff Roller?diff protection?

I saw this on the rusty's site when i was looking at the part to their version of the Superlift kit. I knotice this roller on the rear diff. I have never seen this before. It looks like those roller on a boar trailer that help the boat roll on. I assumed it is meant here for protection of the rear diff/driveline u-joint if you were high centered on a rock or cliff. OR some kind of counter balance weight or something.

Does anyone know what this is?

It's not centered with the rear diff, tho. I would think you'd need another one for the other side.

Vibration dampener most likely. Looks like an 8.8 rear diff.

I just took a better look. Not an 8.8, but does look like a vibration dampener.

Its a vibration dampener. Reduces drive line vibe propagation throughout the rest of the vehicle.

They can be found on some tcases as well.

I wouldn't put one on if you're not having issues with vibes.... otherwise its just another thing to get caught up on.

Some of the XK/WK's come with them stock right fromt the factory. Like Matt said, its a vibration dampener. My friends 05 Grand cherokee has one. I noticed it when we installed his BDS 4 inch lift last year. He has the 3.7 liter QT1 so obviously its not on all the WK/XK's cause my 4.7 liter doesnt have one. This isnt an upgrade by any means or anything thats going to prevent damage to your Jeep while off roading.
