Michigan became a "shall issue" state ...I think in 2001 or thereabouts. I have a Concealed Pistol License as they call them in Michigan. I carry a Kahr CW9. I would like to get a Glock 19 or S&W M&P 9 sometime down the road. The way I look at it, better to have and not need than need and not have.
More and more states will be going in that direction in the not too distant future.
Wisconsin is still in the dark ages, but at least we have constitutional open carry (albeit with MANY restrictions). I applied for my Utah permit, and assuming I pass, I should have a little more latitude with my travels this summer. Unfortunately, Colorado does not honor non-resident permits (Michigan doesn't either...), so I will still be limited while there.
I wonder if Illinois will ever become a right to carry state? Heck, who am I kidding.
Michigan honors other states concealed carry permits, while carrying a legal hand gun licensed to the person carrying. Michigan laws must be followed including honoring so called pistol free zones.

I carry whenever and wherever I can, not because I'm paranoid but because I refuse to be a victim. I'm even looking at getting a PI license to get around most of the 'excluded' areas (and it'll allow me to freelance some computer forensic work).
Only if the permit holder is a resident of the state issuing the permit. There are a few states like that. Florida also honors only resident permits, yet they do provide non-resident permits to out-of-staters. I wonder if Florida honors a non-resident Florida permit?Originally Posted by GPintheMitten

Arizona honors all other states, but now you do not need one to carry in Arizona.

Virginia is a shall issue state. Open carry and concealed carry ( with permit ) is good. I have my CCP and carry a Springfield XD-45 in a Crossbreed Supertuck. Others are a Oly Arms AR15 in 5.56 , a Remington 700 in .308 with a Leupold Vari X III and bipod , Winchester model 77 .22 rifle , Ithaca LSA-55 in .257 Roberts , and a Remington 597 .22 with an Archangel stock and a Tasco red dot ( my daughters first rifle ).
