    Wisconsin Concealed Carry

Both houses of the Wisconsin Legisature have passed SB93 which creates a permit system for concealed carry as well as relaxes some of the hurdles faced when open carrying (still no permit needed for OC). Just need the Governor to sign it which he said he would "sign whatever concealed carry bill hits my desk". Then a few months for the process to be put in place...

Good news for the out-of-staters visiting Wisconsin - the way I read the bill, WI will honor any other states permit as long as it had a background check involved.

Apparently my non-resident Utah permit will satisfy the training requirements for my WI permit

I guess people from AZ will still need a permit to carry in Wisconsin.

You do not need a permit to carry concealed in AZ, so in WI you would not be able to carry at all unless you went in for a background check and got an AZ permit just for when you travel.

Knappster is referring to the fact that AZ recently went Constituional Carry - no permit needed. Great on your home turf but no reciprocity other than with other Constitutional Carry states (currently 4: Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Montana or Wyoming?). All but Vermont have optional permit systems for reciprocity and probably other 'permit only' freedoms (isn't THAT an oxymoron).

SB93 was originally a Constitutional Carry bill but was amended last minute in committee to add a permit with a minimal training.

Always glad to hear another state is working for responsible guns owners instead of against.

I just got my New York State (Unrestricted) Pistol Permit a few months ago. It's so nice to conceal again.

One of my childhood friends is an orthopedic surgeon in Chicago. My dad and I got him into pistol shooting when we were in elementary school. Since he moved to the Windy City he's had to join a shooting club outside of the city limits so he has a place to store his weapons. Apparently it is against the law for civilians to carry or have a firearm in the within the city.

It was illegal to have a hand gun in the city limits rifles were ok if I remember correctly. I think that law has been ruled unconstitutional and there changing it finally but chicago will regulate and tax the crap out of having one. They just want the drug pushers and gang bangers being the only ones with guns.
