A lot of shops have policy against working on vehicles with spacers. It's not about business, it's about liability. For instance if the owner didn't follow the instructions when he installed the spacer, then the tire shop rotates the tires (or does anything that involves removing the wheel), and later on the spacer fails... the shop would be in a bad spot because you know they're going to get blamed, even though they didnt install the spacers.
