While replacing my plugs today my friend Matt and I realized that my hood is not magnetic. So maybe this is why it is not good for a ground plane..

your hood is aluminum. but i believe the entire vehicle is the ground plane, not just the hood. am i right ? i dont know.

Yup, its aluminum. And like the firestik website says, aluminum is equivalent to fiberglass when it comes to "ground plane".
