You guys are to funny but thanks for the reality checks guys. I don't let any jeep offend me I guess they all add to Jeeps bottom line in sales so that can only help I guess. So I guess some tube or half doors are back on the mod list LMAO
I think it was back in January when I really considered selling my XK for a JK, after getting all of those stupid ads from my local Jeep dealerships requesting my XK b/c their used lot was depleted. I even got offered $1,000 below my purchase price (bought the XK in Nov 09) by a salesman one day on the lot when I was just looking. It was extremely tempting but I had to pass.
If I were to sell right now I'd go pick up a 2011 Dark Cherry Red JK Sport 6 speed that I pass everyday at the dealership. I really like the interior design change on the 2011 models, they feel a lot better and less "cheap" per say.
Current: 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T 6 Speed
Traded: 2006 XK Limited 5.7 QD-2
I can see myself getting a wrangler of some sort in the future or maybe a LR Defender if I came across one at the right price. It won't be for a couple of years though and will totally depend on our family situation since a lot is about to change in a year. So it could range from replace XK with 4 door JK to add TJ/JK/Defender as a dedicated trail rig to tow behind the XK.
4.7L v8 QTII, Flowmaster Super 44, Jet Chip: Stage 1, Remote Start, 2.25" Rocky Road lift W/ shocks, .5" Rusty Off Road Strut Spacer, Midland CB Radio, PA Speaker,265/70/17 BFG Km2 Mud Terrain, XD Addict 17x9 Rims, Custom Roof Rack W/ 6 Off Road Lights, Custom Blue Lighting, Custom Front Bumper, Sony Head unit, Power Acoustic Amp, Alpine Type R Speakers (Waiting on Arrival), Upgraded Headlights Bulbs 3000K
I can't see myself doing either tube or half.. but I can for sure say tube is out. I've flung too much mud on my interior already with full doors and windows down, there is no way I would do tube doors.
With all the power and features on the Xk, I love it so far, but I will be purchasing a yj down the road that I can flat tow to trails. A little more open air and will get my Wrangler fix without sacrificing room and ride quality.
2007 Jeep Commander: QTII, Leather, Sunroof, remote start, OEM Skid Plates, 2 in Daystar lift, 255.75.17 BFG Mud Terrains on Moabs, 1.25 " Spidertrax wheel spacers, 4x Guard front guard and Side Guards, Optima Red Top, Robbys half inch leveling spacer, Bilstein 5150 Rear Shocks, Pinch weld mod and trimming!
Keep the Commander. You've done so much with it already, and yes there are more capable offroad vehicles but, really, the Commander will always have long term historical significance and appeal. Especially 10 years down the road. Even with its bad reputation, the people that love them, LOVE them and you can always get a $4000 wrangler if need be. I say keep the XK.
