The design would have to be greatly improved upon to meet SA standards. These are good for a "home machinist" job...

Well I took my rear storage compartment apart today to see how i could increase the space.... I decided not to mess with it (BUT if i didn't have/use the rear HVAC, i definitely would have). Because of the HVAC tube there really wasn't a whole lot of added space to be had so it wasn't worth it to me to make brackets to hold the HVAC tube in place and the cover on.

Plus, i can fit everything I need in there now:
    Stock jack equipment
    Collapsible tire iron
    Work gloves
Night safety equipment (reflective triangle & glow sticks)
    Ponchos
    Ratchet straps
    Recovery strap

So... I'll go with what i got

For Christmas I got a Midland 75-822 CB. I really like this thing for offroading.... the car connection for it runs power off cigarette lighter and (more importantly) connects to an external antenna for extended range. The reason I like this is because it also comes with a battery pack; so if you're wheeling and need to get out of the vehicle but still want to communicate (say its raining and you're helping spot someone), you just put on the shorty antenna and quick connect the battery pack, then you're using it as an all inclusive handheld

Finally found a use for that storage spot in the center console!!
