Would definitely want to add a spring base at a minimum though... those sticks don't have much flex, and don't know of any wheeling spots around where you won't be hitting branches with it.

Springs take stress off the mount as well as the antenna sticking 3 ft into the trees.
It really does double duty.
Like this better than how I have mine setup,
